Lessons

The philosophy behind my lessons is simple: learning how to 'just play' the piano alongside personal learning targets.

What does 'just play' mean?  Obviously, a pianist will often play using actual sheet music as a reference, but I believe the true emotional language of music is communicated best when the piano is played using your own mind.  'Just play' is a technique I'll look to build right from your first lesson so that, further down the line, you'll have all the tools you need to make your own music, and express your emotions through it, without really having to think about it.

And personal learning targets? That's the other really important part in that these are your lessons.  All my students are encouraged to identify and work towards a personal learning target that they want to achieve, within a given timeframe.  For example, a brand-new beginner might have a target simply to learn the basic music notation elements, or to be able to play 'Happy Birthday' for their Mum's special day, or an adult learner might wish to learn that piece of music they've always wanted to be able to play.  The choices and possibilities are endless, but they're yours to make!
